Hattie Murdoch

Thankyou

First off, thanks for returning and keeping patient with me! Please be aware that I have taken off a few tracks on the myspace. This is the start of a gradual overhaul of myspace and the website.

Let me give you a little update.
We are currently about 7 out of 11 days into recording the E.P. Unfortunately due to work commitments (I hate having a full time job), these 7 days haven’t been all in one go!

We started on the 18th Feb and we will be laying the vocals down on the 18th March, a whole month of weird limbo where I’m in between work and studio, where my songs are no longer songs but projects, where terms like “this song is an absolute bitch, why the hell did we pick this one” to “oh shit, that’s a hit”, are bandied around on an hourly basis. Where I feel like a student again but I’m working two jobs at about 60 hours a week.. I think I’m ready for a sleep…

SO anyway..the E.P. It’s certainly going to be different. I’ve always been involved with trip-hop and hip-hop and so to be given the opportunity of working in a studio with such an incredibly talented producer really is a chance you don’t want to screw up. We’ve taken three of my songs and turned them into stuff I want to listen to! Although I’m obliged to give comparisons to other artists, I’m not going to because I don’t want to exceed or fail your expectations and I’ll just be name dropping J

It will be ready in about 1 months time. Don’t you worry, I will be letting you know! Thanks again for being so patient….I won’t let you down!!!

Thanks for being patient

I’ve been thinking about things. About lots of things. Maybe I’ve been thinking about you…but that might be a bit weird…

But I haven’t JUST been thinking, I’ve been ‘doing’ too…and plotting…and sticking my nose into other projects….so I haven’t quite been off the face of the world...but maybe a little bit just off my face…but that’s what the holiday season does to you
Reckless General Records are doing pretty well, and that’s all down to bloody hard work and The Soviets www.wearethesoviets.co.uk They recorded the video for the single ‘The Waitress’ and generally have been getting critical acclaim for everything they do. They have a bit of a Midas touch going on. All that glitters ain’t gold, and these boys are certainly not glittery, but very much gold. Watch the video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzLQFMEijeI
We are very sad to have lost Iain Crummie to a Japanese heart…but although he’s not down the road anymore – he’s only on the end of the phone. And actually not being in the close proximity is often better, especially after one of his nights on the beer and curry. Out of sight, thankfully out of smell, but definitely not out of mind. He’s still throwing in his two-penneth pretty much everyday  though
And me? Well, I’ve been watching from afar…couldn’t quite compete with Miss Great Britain for the Waitress role in the video…so I’ve been working feverishly behind the scenes…! I have been pimping myself out to a fair amount of covers gigs, which not only pays off some of the bills, but has given me enough time to get a bit of perspective on this mad world. I have been very lucky in the fact that the very talented John Elliot and Andrew Archer from Loft Productions have agreed to produce my E.P. We have worked on some demos, and they are sounding pretty exciting. I have butterflies  There has been a slight time set back and will be there in February and get it out to yous lot soon thereafter. Thank you for being so patient!
Just one last thing….The March of The Soviets begins in March (funnily enough…!) – see the myspace for details of where to catch the boys playing! www.myspace.com/wearethesoviets I’ll be there in the audience for most of the gigs…throwing my pint around…come say Hi!

Stuff what is good

Olaaaaa. Have some lovely news that I will be working on my new project with Andrew and John from the awesome Trafik (Global Underground). This will be a big change from the stuff that i've been giggin with, but very much what i've always wanted to do. If i wasn't such a pleb at technology, or paid more notice in lectures at uni, i may have had a go myself, but all them beats and stuff.....just beyond me simple little mind. I'm very lucky to have the chance to work with these boys and with cups of tea a'plenty (i believe hobnobs are a requirement too?) i think we'll have a jolly nice time all round!

Aiiiyyeee

Cluny Gig + Elliot, you fuck bucket!

To all of you who came down on Saturday night at The Cluny, thankyou so much. I don’t know about anyone else but I thought it was a great night, with awesome support from The Vegas Fame Index (all the way from Norwich!) and local boys The Pilots. Blinding set by The Soviets, if I wasn’t already wet from the rank weather, I was by the end of the night from the typical throw- your -fist -in –the-air-but-shit-there’s-a-pint-in-my-hand Soviets manner. They had a tight re-jigged set and the tunes are getting more polished than Jade Goody’s head .
I included a few new bits and bobs to my set…a couple of new tunes ‘Sun’ ,‘All good time’ and ‘Factories’ putting in an appearance. I think it’s getting there…I’m still new to this band thing, but we’re working on it good and proper. Still so desperate to get in to the bloody studios..yep haven’t been in yet!!! After making a wee bit of profit on the door from Saturday, I hope it’s my turn to get a few tracks down. I’m ready to start layering up a few of my songs, getting some piano and various bits of hand percussion involved…which unfortunately I cant really do in the gigs because I don’t have enough hands! (and I cant afford a loop pedal……rubbish…anyone got one they fancy lending us for a few weeks?!?..worth a try!)
The choice of title for today’s blog is inspired by Iain Crummies uncanny ability to joyfully insult Elliot. I think we all do pretty well at it, but Iain always impresses us by his original and witty retorts.
Better get back to wanting to poke my eyes out at work or jumping out the window.
Bye for now
x
